Thousands set to switch gas supply

OFGAS, the national gas watchdog body, believes thousands of Greater Manchester householders are in the process of switching their gas supply. Competition policy - introduced by the Conservatives and supported by the present Government - means several different suppliers are competing with British Gas to sell domestic gas. Bosses blast 'price before patient' claim

BOLTON health bosses have defended their funding policy after recent criticism that they are putting price before patient well-being. In the past week Wigan and Bolton Health Authority has come under fire for refusing to fund private treatments for women suffering from the slimmers' disease anorexia. The BEN reported the case of teenager Michelle Bridgland whose parents want the health authority to fund a referral to a private clinic in Berkshire, which charges £300 a day.  more...
