Retail park's holiday opening

From the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, first published Friday 27th Aug 1999.

A NEW retail park in Blackburn will open for business on Bank Holiday Monday with two of the seven units on the site still unoccupied.

The Wickes Home Improvement Centre at the Towns Moor Retail Park, between Bolton Road and Russell Street, will open its doors at 10am.

And four other retailers, Blockbuster Video, North Shoe Ltd, What Everyone Wants Discount Stores and Car Phone Warehouse will follow soon after.

But developers Ardwood Properties say they are no closer to securing deals for the two outlets still to be taken.

Company spokesman David Barlow said: "We have had negotiations with some people but we would like to stress we are still at a preliminary stage and there is not likely to be any news for a while."

Interior designer Graham Wynne from BBC's "Changing Rooms" programme will be helped by local children when he officially opens the Wickes store.
