Backpacker still critical

A 24-year-old backpacker who fell 20ft after guttering at Walkabout Bar, Queen Street, Blackpool, gave way was still in a critical condition yesterday.

The New Zealand man climbed a drainpipe outside the bar when he fell at about 2.20am on Monday..

He was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital with bleeding to the brain and a fractured skull and was transferred to Royal Preston Hospital later that day for further treatment.
