Musician plays at New York tribute

From the archive, first published Monday 11th Sep 2006.

A MUSICIAN from Bolton was appearing in New York today to play in a memorial service to mark the fifth anniversary of the September 11 terrorist atrocities.

Scott Broadhurst, aged 19, of Walkden, was invited to play at the event by the West Yorkshire police band. The former pupil of St Georges RC High School in Little Hulton, joined Bolton Youth Brass band at the age of 12 and has held the position of principle cornet at the Astley Youth Band for the last five years. He has contacts with the West Yorkshire police band because his father is a police officer.

Scott was due to play at a memorial service to remember the British who died when Al Qaeda terrorists hijacked two planes and flew them into the twin towers of the World Trade Centre.
