Repeatedly ignored by Sven Goran Eriksson, the Wanderers captain is one of the players the new England boss says he is monitoring for possible inclusion in his squad for next month's European qualifiers.
And Allardyce, who had hoped to be managing the national team himself, says Nolan deserves to be given an opportunity to prove he not only has the talent but the versatility to play in McClaren's midfield quartet.
