170,000 to get pay increase

AROUND 170,000 workers in the North-west region will be guaranteed higher pay when the minimum wage rises from tomorrow The adult rate of the minimum wage will go up from £5.05 to £5.35 an hour, the youth rate for workers aged 18 to 21 will increase from £4.25 to £4.45 and the rate for workers aged 16 and 17 years will also increase from £3.00 to £3.30. This latest rise means that around 1.3 million workers nationwide will get an increase in their pay.  more...
