Charity wins by a horse’s head
From the The Bolton News, first published Saturday 25th Aug 2007.
BETTING shop staff in Bolton are galloping towards their charity fundraising target by dressing up in horses' heads.
Mary Hulme and Faye Stirzacker will wear the costumes on Saturday in Ladbrokes in Tonge Moor Road to raise money for children's hospices.
"The horse heads can be scary so hopefully no-one will be too shocked when they come in," said Mrs Hulme, who is deputy manager.
Other staff are being sponsored to wear football shirts as part of Ladbrokes' national campaign to raise £1 million for CLIC Sargent, a children's cancer charity. Mrs Hulme said: "It's bad enough when you've got an elderly relative with cancer, but when it's children it's so difficult for the child and its parents."
