Transplant games hope for schoolgirl

A schoolgirl is causing a racquet as she competes in the World Transplant Games in Thailand Charlene Mills, 17, from Marton, will be competing for a gold medal in the badminton and table tennis at the games in Bangkok from today to September 2.

Charlene will be one of over 1,000 transplant recipients taking part.

Charlene, who had a kidney transplant ten years ago, recently participated in the British Transplant Games in Edinburgh and won a gold medal in the table tennis and a silver in the badminton.

She said: "The Games have played an important role in helping me live a full and active life, following my transplant."
