Staff get a head start for charity
From the The Bolton News, first published Monday 27th Aug 2007.
STAFF at a bookies enjoyed horsing around for a day in the name of charity.
Three employees at Ladbrokes in Tonge Moor Road wore horses heads for the day to raise money for Clic Sargent - a charity which helps children with cancer.
They walked along Tonge Moor Road in their costumes asking for donations in exchange for raffle tickets and raised more than £200.
Mary Hulme, duty manager, said: "We saw someone doing this once and thought it was really funny, so we decided to have a go ourselves. It seems appropriate for a bookies.
"I was surprised by how generous people were and we would like to thank everyone who donated."
A signed Bolton Wanderers pennant was given away as the raffle prize.
