McFly bring a little Malice to birthday bash

From the Prestwich and Whitefield Guide, first published Monday 27th Aug 2007.

ROCK band McFly are among a list of artists who have recorded a track for Radio 1's forthcoming 40th birthday celebrations.

Each artist contributing to the album had to choose a song from a given year in the last 40.

McFly got 1982 and chose to cover The Jam classic, Town Called Malice.

The Paul Weller-penned song reached number one and the McFly version will get its first play on the Chris Moyles Radio 1 show on September 25.

Other artists involved in the album include Razorlight, Amy Winehouse, Paulo Nutini, Sugababes, Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams.

McFly have been nominated for a best band award at the Nick KCA Awards in London.

Bolton-born Danny Jones is up for best male vocalist
