Donation will keep babies warm

From the Lancashire Telegraph, first published Tuesday 28th Aug 2007.

A WOMEN'S refuge will be keeping babies warm with a set of handmade quilts donated by a volunteer.

Kath Peel, from Barnoldswick, teaches the art of quilt-making, at the Scrap Art Material Store (SAMS) in Blackburn.

SAMS, based at Apollo House, Ordnance Street, is an initiative which supplies alternative craft materials donated by local business to community groups, holiday clubs, schools and other organisations and individuals for them to create art and craft masterpieces.

It is run by Blackburn's Community and Business Partners Ltd, a non-profit making company which aims to encourage the private sector to contribute to the development of the area.

As well as teaching her class every Monday, Kath spent her spare time making the five baby covers, and SAMS has found them a home at Blackburn with Darwen and District Women's Aid.

To book a place on a class, contact SAMS on 01254 668694.
