Police are appealing for witnesses after a 15-year-old girl was indecently assaulted in a Preston park last night.

Sometime between 10pm and 11pm, the girl was walking through Haslam Park, off Bristow Avenue, Ashton, after spending the evening with friends and fell asleep on a bench near to the pond.

She was awoken by a man standing over her who was touching her face. Her lower clothing had been removed.

After a brief exchange, the man, who was wearing dark clothing, rode away on a BMX bike.

Detectives are now appealing for anyone who was in the park at the time or who saw anyone riding bicycles to contact them.

Anyone with any information is asked to call 01772 209209 or Crimestoppers, free and in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
