Kaite's in the cash

From the Lancashire Telegraph, first published Wednesday 29th Aug 2007.

In-form Katie Ingram is £500 richer after winning the women's race at the Mizuno Uphill Mile.

The elite invitation event was the prelude to this month's Horwich Jubilee Five Mile Road Race held at Rivington.

The 22-year old former Chorley Harrier, who is currently preparing for the World Mountain Trophy, clocked 5:56 to finish seven seconds clear of Olivia Walwyn from Altrincham.

Matt Barnes, also Altrincham, won the men's race in 4:53. Ingram's purple patch continued at the Pendleton Fell Race where she won the women's race by three minutes.

She completed the five miler, which includes 1500 feet of climbing, in 41:04.

Race winner in 36:14 was James Kevan, another Chorley-based Horwich Harrier, with Clayton veteran Mike Wallis second.

Clayton fielded half of the top ten as Mark Brown, Andrew McFarlane, Andy Orr and Gary Shaw placed fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth. Rossendale Harrier Andy Preedy came seventh.
