The second outdoor meeting of 2007 - planned to be a walk led by society members around the former Musbury Deer Park medieval hunting ground of the de Lacy family - was disappointingly abandoned following the onset of torrential rain. Next month's meeting, on Monday, August 13, is the final outdoor meeting of the season. Members will visit Bury to look at places of historical interest. I moved from Manchester to Ramsbottom three years ago and was attracted to Rammy because apart from it being an interesting little town with plenty of history there were lots of things going on, such as the Rhythm and Blues festival, international black pudding throwing competition, war weekend and farmers market. I especially enjoyed the Christmas market held on Bridge Street. We also have a nice local market on a Saturday.  more...
